NIGERIA

'I am a Legal Practitioner from southern Nigeria, Delta State. I have lived all my life in Nigeria and have been exposed to diverse cultures, economic/ political and environmental differences, due to Nigeria’s heterogeneity. Being an Urhobo by tribe with a culture which recognizes having many children as evidence of a man’s wealth and the 30th child in a polygamous family of about 8 wives and 47 children, left me with no choice but to be independent early on. I knew there were so many persons to cater for and I wouldn’t get the sufficient provision I needed. The large population of my immediate family didn’t create a room for excessive material wealth because it was going to cost too much. So, consumption was generally done in moderation. As a matter of fact, a larger part of Nigeria consumes in moderation, due to the harsh economic state of the country.'
